two dogs and one little girl inside

i went home for thanksgiving for the weekend. with me to my parents' house, i brought one uncle (bill), one dog (jake), one new car (prius) and one 29 and a half pound turkey (dinner). we spent thursday morning in altamont before driving out to see the whole big family in cazenovia.

despite having chemo on monday of this week (a great birthday present, eh?), matt was feeling well enough to travel for thanksgiving also. unfortunately, he wasn't feeling quite well enough to accompany me to cazenovia and meet the thirty family members and friends gathered at aunt sandy's. many a healthy man has been intimidated by smaller bonney family gatherings than that. who can blame him? he and bekah drove down to pennsylvania to celebrate and overeat with his family there.

up to this point, the chemo has not been as bad as the radiation. i think it helps that the treatments are only once every two weeks, which gives matt some time to recover and start to feel normal again before he has to take the next dose. matt's hands have been showing symptoms of the neuropathy that the doctors warned him about- he describes it as feeling like his hands have fallen asleep and are all tingly every time they get cold. in the first few days following treatment, matt is not supposed to touch anything chilled, which includes all items located inside the refrigerator. if he needed to lose weight, it's a pretty good diet incentive strategy.

i have lots of pictures from the holiday and lots of people are hoping to become famous by appearing on my blog, so be prepared for the parade of family photos over the next few days.

hope you all had a great thanksgiving!
