day one: cloudy with a hint of gorgeous

in an effort to not over-plan the puerto rico excursion, i managed to secure us a place to stay and then proceeded to make no additional plans or reservations. when we arrived in san juan around noon on thursday (having come within mere seconds of not being allowed on the plane due to lateness- thank goodness for exorbitantly-priced parking close to the terminal), we had no real idea what to do next.

we decided to rent a car because we wanted to be able to travel around during the few days that we were there. however, we were vacationing in puerto rico at the same time as many other people were vacationing in puerto rico and many puerto ricans were vacationing as well- semana santa, or holy week, one of the biggest vacation weeks in the puerto rican year. luckily, there were a few rental cars on the island that weren't already reserved.

we jumped in the car and headed out to the passionfruit bed and breakfast in the coastal town of fajardo. and then we went and sat on the beach.
