the competitive croquet scene

as usual, there was a family sports tournament at thanksgiving. i guess we are now all too old and un-agile to play ping pong anymore (scared that we might get smoked by the youngest generation), so we turned to croquet. as usual, the two daves were right in the thick of the competition, both secretly assuming they would be the victor at the end of the match.

also as usual, t.k. promised to be a threat, especially as younger dave struggled at the first wicket (i'm sorry, never having written the word "wicket" before, i realized i don't know if it is spelled with an "h" or not). older dave surged forward, perhaps sealing his own fate by getting more than a little cocky.

cousin chris was in it for a while but was distracted by the abundant opportunities for heckling.

i actually ended up in second place. however, i accomplished this by really "taking my time" through the second half of the course, and allowing the men to chase each other around after they made it all the way through and turned into "poison."

in defense of my admittedly sluggish performance, i was letting this guy take every other shot.

despite good work by all, the winner of the croquet tournament was my dad, who also earned himself the "most improved" award, after taking seven turns to get through the first wicket, as well as the "most unconventional form" award for his putting style. well done, dad.

the end.
