actually, what happened was matt dumped powered sugar on his bees. in their efforts to clean themselves of their sugar-coating, the bees also clean off any mites that are attached to them. it's an organic way to get mites out of your beehive and to make the honey even sweeter.

note: i know the powdered sugar does not make the honey any sweeter. only butterfly magic flying dust and elf eyelashes can make honey sweeter.
