chilling out

matt is now officially finished with radiation. phew. by the end of the process, he was sore, dehydrated, and skinny. the pain in his stomach has been bad enough recently that he hasn't been able to eat or drink much. they had to give him 2 liters of IV fluid on monday and another 3 liters when he went in on tuesday to have the chemo port installed in his upper chest. now that this port is in place, they will no longer have to poke matt multiple times trying to find a vein. the addition of the fluids and the subtraction of both the radiating and the oral chemotherapy pill are already making him feel slightly better and he will have a couple more weeks to recover before starting chemo treatments in mid-august.

because of the high temperatures and humidity, i got us a hotel room for tuesday and wednesday nights. i could tell you that this was a completely altruistic gesture, but that would be a lie, since i am no fan of temperatures higher than 80. they are predicting heat indices here of over 110.
