wait wait don't tell me

today matt and i listened to "wait wait don't tell me" on npr. one of us really enjoyed it. the other one of us took a nap. guess which is which.

as if the giant sac of fluid was not inexplicable enough, matt has also been experiencing a lot of pain in his neck. no one has been able to provide a reasonable explanation of its origin (i proposed the theory that it was caused by traffic lights that are not timed in synch with each other, which can be, as matt has said before, a real pain in the neck. this hypothesis was pretty much ignored) and for quite a while, the doctors couldn't get their acts together to provide him with any treatment. finally, this afternoon, he got some relief via IV muscle relaxers. it seemed to help both his neck and the site of the sac catheter feel better. there is still a very small amount of fluid draining out of him, which they are continuing to collect and analyze to try and determine the origin of the cyst. matt will be in the hospital until at least monday, when they will do another CT scan to see if the sac has disappeared. and then he can come home.
