scaling the peak

today we drove down to foster, rhode island in order to conquer the highest peak in the ocean state, jerimoth hill (too small to officially qualify as a mountain). at a staggering 812 ft, the hill towered over us as we approached along route 6. after parking at the side of the road, matt read this sign, which states that the actual highest point is only five feet above the road we were standing on and that the summit is densely vegetated with no view whatsoever. despite this written attempt to talk us out of our mission, we perservered to the top. i feel like this accomplishment might really help to boost matt's self esteem and sense of personal health. if he can walk the 100 yards from the car, including a five foot change in elevation, to the densely vegetated and unrewarding summit of this hill, then what can't he do?
