the three cecropia moth caterpillars we managed to keep alive have all built their cocoons. these cocoons are rather large and remind me of chewbaca. i just did a little online research and realized that these things aren't going to hatch until spring. i had no idea what i was getting in to when i agreed to adopt the tiny little eggs. aaron and julie- you should flush your caterpillar down the toilet while she's still small enough to fit through the pipes

too late - Jenna has cocooned up and affixed herself to the jar lid. however, rumor has it that monarchs emerge in just two weeks.
thank your lucky stars for that. maybe you guys want to try your hand at hatching a cecropia cocoon?
i thought you already had enough moths flying around there...
