feeling pooped

today was matt's second-to-last day of radiation (it would have been his last if he hadn't had the fourth of july holiday off) and the effects of the treatment have really been tough lately. the region that is exposed to radiation in his stomach is pretty sore- enough so that it keeps him awake at night. he is also having some trouble eating- a stomach in pain is not a stomach begging to be filled, even with delicious foods like odwalla citrus c-monster drinks. i took a few hours off from camp to drive him in to his treatment this morning (what a sacrafice!) and will be able to drive him in for the last treatment on monday. he got some prescription pain medicine today, which hopefully will allow him to get some rest. the best thing for him to take would be an anti-inflammatory like motrin, but those also thin the blood and matt has to have minor surgery on tuesday afternoon to have his IV port installed in his chest. they will use this port to hook up the chemo injection system. after that, he can switch over to motrin and maybe start feeling something close to normal.
